NBR EXTENSIONS FAQS
What are Natural Beaded Rows Extensions?
Natural Beaded Rows™ Hair Extensions are an exclusive hair extension method created by Danielle K. White of DKW Styling. We custom color the hair ensuring a seamless blend. The hair extensions are placed in rows in the hair by creating a “track” with an exclusive bead and string technique. Wefts are then placed on the track and sewn in. The extensions are then cut and blended to our clients’ hair to create a natural and beautiful look.
How are the extensions applied?
A string and bead track is created in your hair and then thin, hand tied wefts of hair are placed onto these tracks. That hair is then sewn securely onto the track. There are no braids, tape, bonds or bulky wefts in this method! One, two or three tracks will be placed into your hair, depending on your hair type and the desired outcome.
What type of hair do you use?
I use high quality, 100% Human Indian Remy hair.
I have short hair, can I get NBR?
Your hair must be at least shoulder length, with your layers being at least down to your cheeks for extensions to ensure that they look natural! I can better help you with this by you filling out the NBR application if you aren’t sure if you are a candidate!
How much is the investment to experience NBR Hair Extensions?
I will need you to fill out the NBR application so I can see your current hair and goal hair for an accurate quote, as pricing can vary greatly depending on your hair type and desired outcome, but most first time clients can expect to invest $800-$1400. Longer extensions (22”+) may sometimes be slightly more depending on your current hair type and length. This investment covers the NBR Hair Extensions, Seamless Color on the extensions, Cut and Styling. If you need your own hair colored, that is an additional cost and I recommend booking that session prior to the NBR appointment for timing purposes, if possible.
Can I wear my hair up in a ponytail?
YES! That is one of the many benefits to this method! No more worrying about your extensions showing!
What products should I use on my extensions?
I recommend using a moisturizing shampoo & conditioner when you wash them and a hydrating mask every 2-3 times. I also recommend a good leave-in conditioner, and hydrating oil. Extensions need more moisture than your natural hair, so you must hydrate them to ensure that they stay soft and healthy! I have some great products in my studio and we can go over those during your appointment. I will provide you with a product and maintenance guide on your appointments with helpful tips on taking care of your new hair!
How often do I have to get new hair?
Blonde hair will generally need to be replaced a little sooner than brunette, as it has been processed more, and longevity will also depend on how well the hair was taken care of. Most clients can expect their hair to last 4-8 months, and at that time new hair can be installed. One or two new wefts can be installed at a time too if you do not need all new hair at once for a refresh.
How often do I have to come in for maintenance appointments?
Move-up appointments are required every 6-8 weeks. This will depend on how fast your hair grows. The wefts and track will be removed, a new track created and the hair will be reinstalled.
I’m worried about them tangling while I sleep, what do you suggest?
It is recommended that you sleep with your hair in a low, loose braid. Brush out your hair, add some oil if needed and put in a side braid or braided pigtails. This will give you some great waves for the next day as well! Also, never sleep with wet hair! I recommend always using a wet brush for extensions, as they are more gentle on your hair.
Can I swim with extensions?
Yes, you can! I suggest putting it into a braid and then washing/conditioning as soon as you are done to make sure the salt or chlorine is removed and doesn’t dry out your hair. Then apply a leave-in conditioner. Chlorine can sometimes cause peoples hair to turn green if they swim frequently, which goes for your natural hair and extensions, so please keep that in mind. Also, you will want to keep sunscreen off of extensions, especially blonde ones as there are instances where they can turn peach from the sunscreens ingredients.
Will people be able to see the extensions?
This method is so seamless, that no one should be able to notice that you are wearing extensions… Even when the wind blows! If you wear your hair half up, you just have to be mindful of where you are parting, but they can be covered in most situations very easily! There are no tape tabs, beads or bonds completely covering your head, so they are not only more comfortable, but much less noticeable!
